Pakistan is preparing to modernize its policing system with a series of reforms aimed at improving law enforcement, investigation, and public safety. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the government will establish a China-style Law Enforcement Investigation Centre in Islamabad as part of a broader strategy to introduce internationally recognized policing practices.
The announcement came during a meeting with Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) who recently returned after completing specialized training programs in China and Türkiye. The officers shared their experiences, highlighting how the overseas courses enhanced their professional skills and introduced them to modern policing methods, advanced surveillance technologies, and more efficient approaches to maintaining law and order.
According to the Interior Minister, international training will now become a regular part of the professional development of Pakistani police officers. He emphasized that exposing officers to global best practices will help strengthen Pakistan’s law enforcement institutions and better prepare them to address evolving security challenges.

One of the key initiatives is the launch of a pilot Law Enforcement Investigation Centre in Islamabad. The facility is expected to bring detention, investigation, and summary trial functions together under one roof. Officials believe this integrated model will help speed up the handling of minor criminal cases, reduce procedural delays, and improve the overall efficiency of the justice process.
The reform agenda also focuses on greater use of technology in policing. The government plans to equip law enforcement agencies with advanced surveillance systems and modern investigative tools to improve crime prevention and monitoring capabilities. In addition, the Ministry of Interior’s Aviation Wing will receive state-of-the-art drones to enhance aerial surveillance, support policing operations, and strengthen public safety efforts.
Officials say these reforms are intended to create a more responsive, technology-driven, and efficient policing system while adopting proven practices from successful international models. The government believes that investing in modern training, digital tools, and integrated investigation facilities will improve law enforcement performance and strengthen public confidence in security institutions.
If successfully implemented, these initiatives could mark a significant step toward modernizing Pakistan’s policing infrastructure and enhancing the country’s ability to respond to emerging security challenges in an increasingly complex environment.
