Concerns over a possible petrol shortage are increasing across Pakistan after petroleum dealers claimed that oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reduced fuel supplies amid rising global oil prices linked to ongoing Iran-US tensions.
According to Sindh Petroleum Dealers Association President Amir Khan, several OMCs have introduced fuel supply quotas for petrol stations. He warned that if these restrictions continue, major cities, including Karachi, could face fuel shortages in the coming days.
Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association Vice Chairman Tariq Hassan also expressed concern, saying limited fuel availability could affect multiple regions and disrupt normal supply if demand continues to rise.

However, sources within oil marketing companies have rejected claims of an impending shortage. They said petrol stations are receiving supplies based on their average monthly sales, while requests for additional quantities are temporarily being declined to ensure balanced distribution.
The situation comes as global oil markets remain volatile due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns about fuel availability and import costs. Authorities are closely monitoring the supply chain to ensure sufficient fuel stocks are maintained and to prevent any disruption to consumers.
