Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China. The meeting focused on strengthening historic ties between Pakistan and Iran and reviewing the positive momentum in their growing cooperation.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan attaches great importance to its brotherly relations with Iran, which are deeply rooted in shared faith, culture, and heritage. He appreciated the ongoing progress in political, economic, and security cooperation between the two countries.

During the discussion, PM Shehbaz highlighted the importance of President Pezeshkian’s successful visit to Pakistan in August 2025, calling it a milestone in expanding bilateral relations. He expressed hope that the strong foundations laid during that visit would further boost trade, energy, and people-to-people exchanges.
President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s determination to enhance collaboration with Pakistan in multiple fields. He also expressed deep solidarity with the Pakistani people, offering heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives and property caused by the recent devastating floods. The Iranian leader assured that Iran stands with Pakistan during these difficult times.
Both leaders agreed that close cooperation is essential not only for the prosperity of their peoples but also for promoting regional peace, stability, and development.
