Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has informed users across Pakistan about possible internet slowdowns and connectivity issues between May 11 and May 18 due to maintenance work on an international submarine cable system. The company stated that the disruptions may affect browsing speeds, streaming quality, online gaming, and other internet-based services during the maintenance period.
According to PTCL, the technical work is being carried out to improve and stabilize international internet connectivity. Since Pakistan relies heavily on submarine cable networks for global internet traffic, any maintenance or repair activity on these systems can temporarily impact data flow and network performance across the country.
The company noted that internet users are most likely to experience slower speeds during evening hours, when online activity and network usage are usually at their highest. This may especially affect people working remotely, students attending online classes, businesses relying on digital communication, and users consuming high-bandwidth content such as video streaming or live broadcasts.
PTCL has advised customers to plan their online activities accordingly and remain patient while the maintenance work is completed. The company emphasized that the upgrades are necessary to ensure long-term network stability, improved reliability, and better service quality for users in the future.
