Punjab has announced that wheat is available in abundant quantity across the province, bringing relief for consumers and the agriculture sector. According to the Department of Agriculture, this year’s wheat production has exceeded approximately 22 million metric tons, marking a strong and stable harvest season. Officials say the availability of sufficient wheat stocks will help maintain price stability and ensure smooth supply in the local market.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that wheat reserves in Punjab are secure and the government is committed to protecting public food needs. She emphasized that the focus of the administration is to ensure that neither farmers suffer losses nor consumers face exploitation in pricing. According to her, a modern governance approach is being introduced to improve transparency and efficiency in the food supply system.

As part of this strategy, the Punjab government has decided to introduce an AI-based live digital dashboard to monitor wheat stocks and supply in real time. The system will track demand, supply, storage, and price movement across the province. Officials say this platform will ensure that every grain of wheat is accounted for, helping the government make timely decisions to manage food security more effectively.
The government has also allowed licensed aggregators and stockists to legally store wheat, provided they properly declare their stock within two weeks. Strict action will be taken under anti-hoarding laws against those who fail to comply. At the same time, incentives may be offered to businesses that transparently report their wheat holdings.
In a high-level meeting on food security, the Chief Minister directed authorities to strengthen the food department and ensure affordable flour and controlled prices of bread and naan across Punjab. The new system is expected to modernize supply chain monitoring and bring digital governance into the agriculture and food sector.
