Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has said that the provincial government is actively working to improve public transport across the province by introducing modern, safe, and affordable travel services for citizens.
During his visit to Attock, the minister inspected arrangements at the General Bus Stand and Electric Vehicle Stand and appreciated the performance of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Attock. He stated that preparations for launching the Green Electric Bus Service in Attock have reached the final stage under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
According to the minister, the electric bus service is expected to start operations within eight to nine days after Eid. He said the initiative aims to provide eco-friendly, efficient, and affordable transportation to the public while reducing environmental pollution in urban areas.
The Green Electric Buses will operate at a fare of Rs20, making them highly accessible for daily commuters. These buses will include modern facilities such as mobile charging ports, a cashless card payment system, CCTV security cameras, panic buttons, and a separate compartment for women to ensure safety and convenience.

Bilal Akbar Khan added that the buses will be completely smoke-free and noise-free, offering a comfortable travel experience. He also emphasized that the Punjab government is enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against overcharging, overloading, rooftop travel, and illegal fare collection, especially during the Eid holiday period.
The new electric bus project is part of Punjab’s broader strategy to modernize its transport system, promote clean energy solutions, and improve public mobility infrastructure across the province.
