Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed appreciation after Punjab’s Virtual Centre for Child Safety “Mera Pyara” project received major international recognition at the UN-backed World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Awards 2026. The project was ranked among the top five digital public service initiatives in the world, marking a significant milestone for Pakistan’s digital governance efforts.

The recognition highlights how the “Mera Pyara” project is using technology to improve child protection services in Punjab. The system has been designed to help authorities quickly respond to cases involving missing or vulnerable children. According to official details, the platform has already supported the tracing of thousands of missing children, showing its practical impact on real-life emergencies.

Alongside this achievement, the Virtual Women Police Station also gained international attention by securing a place among the top 20 global digital public service projects. This reflects growing investment in digital policing and women-focused support systems in the province. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to modernize public safety services through technology.
