Lahore’s vibrant Basant festival concluded after three days of colorful celebrations, lively gatherings, and festive spirit across the city. According to the Poultry Association, chicken meat worth Rs10.75 billion was sold during the three-day event, reflecting the significant economic activity generated by the festival.
Basant brought the city to life with kite flying, music, traditional food, and joyful celebrations. Rooftops, streets, and markets were filled with people enjoying the long-awaited cultural event. Families gathered on rooftops to fly kites, children and adults shouted “Bo Kata” as they cut competitors’ kites, and the skies were covered in bright colors.
The Poultry Association reported that the demand for chicken meat surged sharply during the festival days. Special gatherings, rooftop parties, and family dinners contributed to the record-breaking sales. Food stalls, barbecue setups, and home-cooked feasts played a central role in the celebrations, making chicken one of the most consumed items during the event.

People of all ages—children, youth, adults, and the elderly—actively participated in the festivities. Markets remained crowded as residents purchased kites, string, traditional snacks, and other supplies. Restaurants and food vendors also experienced a significant increase in customers, further boosting business activity.
The three-day celebration once again highlighted Lahore’s cultural vibrancy and love for traditional festivals. The city sparkled with energy, laughter, and color, showcasing its lively spirit and strong community bonds.
With record food sales and widespread participation, this year’s Basant not only revived cultural traditions but also demonstrated the powerful economic impact of large public festivals in the provincial capital.
