Pakistan has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a friendly country for the export of its advanced JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, marking a major achievement in the nation’s growing defense manufacturing and export capabilities. The agreement was finalized during the Dubai Airshow 2025, one of the world’s largest aviation and defense exhibitions.
According to officials, the MoU reflects strong international interest in the latest JF-17 Block-III, the most modern variant of the aircraft. The Block-III features a cutting-edge AESA radar, enhanced long-range engagement capability, upgraded avionics, improved electronic warfare systems, and advanced weapons integration — making it the most capable JF-17 variant to date.

While the buyer country and the total number of aircraft have not yet been disclosed, Pakistani authorities described the deal as a significant step toward deepening strategic partnerships and expanding the country’s footprint in the global defense market.
This development comes at a time when Pakistan is strengthening its defense export portfolio, including a major JF-17 sale to Azerbaijan, which is regarded as the largest defense export agreement in Pakistan’s history.
The new MoU adds momentum to Pakistan’s goal of boosting indigenous defense production, increasing export revenue, and reinforcing international defense cooperation through the JF-17 program — a joint project of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation.
With more announcements expected in the coming months, the deal signals growing confidence in Pakistan’s ability to produce modern, combat-proven fighter aircraft for global partners.
