The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Association has announced an indefinite nationwide shutdown of petrol pumps, set to begin at 12:00 AM tonight, following the failure of negotiations with the Ministry of Petroleum.
According to the association’s General Secretary, Nauman Ali Butt, talks between the association and the government ended without reaching an agreement. The association has strongly rejected the government’s proposed daily fuel price adjustment mechanism, stating that changing petroleum prices on a daily basis is unacceptable for petrol pump operators.
Nauman Ali Butt said that after the unsuccessful negotiations, petrol pumps across Pakistan would remain closed until further notice as part of a nationwide protest. The association argues that the proposed pricing mechanism would create operational challenges, increase uncertainty for dealers, and negatively affect the fuel retail business.
