Murad Ali Shah has led a high-level meeting in Karachi to accelerate cooperation with Chinese companies across multiple development sectors, following recent engagements between Asif Ali Zardari and Chinese leadership. The focus of the meeting was clear: move beyond agreements on paper and turn them into real, working projects that benefit the people of Sindh.
One of the most important proposals discussed was the modernization of firefighting and emergency services. Under this plan, Chinese companies are expected to provide advanced firefighting equipment, including modern fire engines, improved emergency response systems, and support for building additional fire stations. Officials confirmed that consultations have already been completed, and a government-to-government agreement is currently in progress. The Chief Minister directed the Local Government Department to speed up formalities so the project can be finalized without delay.

Beyond emergency services, the meeting covered several major development initiatives. A significant industrial project in Thar involving coal gasification for urea production was discussed, aiming to convert local coal into fertilizer. This could reduce Pakistan’s reliance on imports and strengthen the agricultural sector. Feasibility studies for this project are expected to be completed by May 2026.
In the agriculture and livestock sector, plans were reviewed to introduce a modern livestock tracking system, vaccination programs, and disease diagnostic facilities. These efforts will include technology transfer from Chinese partners and the establishment of labs and a livestock registration authority to improve productivity and health standards.
Environmental cooperation was also on the agenda, including proposals for sewage treatment and water supply projects. However, some plans were found to be too costly, prompting the Chief Minister to call for more practical and sustainable alternatives.
Additional initiatives discussed included a controlled agriculture science park to boost food production and a tyre recycling project in a special economic zone.
Concluding the meeting, Murad Ali Shah emphasized that Pakistan-China cooperation holds great potential for Sindh’s development. He urged all departments to stay proactive, improve coordination, and maintain momentum to ensure these projects deliver real results for the province.
