Former ISI chief Lt General (Retired) Faiz Hameed has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM), the Pakistan Army’s media wing, ISPR, confirmed.
The military court began his trial in August 2024, and after more than a year of proceedings, the verdict was announced on December 11, 2025.
According to the ISPR, Faiz Hameed was found guilty on several serious charges, including:
- Taking part in political activities, which the court said harmed national interests
- Violating the Official Secrets Act
- Misusing his authority and government resources
- Causing loss and damage to individuals
The ISPR added that the entire trial was carried out according to the law and that Faiz Hameed was given full legal rights, including choosing his own lawyers. He still has the right to appeal the decision.

The military also said that investigations are continuing into his alleged role in creating political unrest in coordination with certain political groups.
This is one of the most notable accountability cases in Pakistan’s history, as it is rare for a former top intelligence officer to receive such a sentence.
