Google and Tech Valley collaborate to introduce a digital journalism project in Pakistan.

Google released a new program called “Digital Sahafat,” which it is establishing in partnership with the local social business Tech Valley, with the aim of improving the digital journalism abilities of Pakistani reporters.

This program, which is a part of the larger Google News Initiative (GNI), seeks to equip 1,000 journalists in Pakistan with the equipment, know-how, and materials they need to produce factual and engaging digital stories.

On September 4, the GNI—which is renowned for its international initiatives to thwart disinformation and promote creativity in the news sector—will present this event in Islamabad.

Speakers at the opening event will include officials from Tech Valley as well as Kate Beddoe, Managing Director of APAC News Partnerships at Google.

Google’s continued commitment to promoting journalism throughout the world includes its cooperation with Tech Valley. Since its founding in 2018, the GNI has worked with thousands of news outlets in more than 100 nations.

The GNI seeks to assist publishers globally in increasing their readership and revenue as they adjust to the changing media landscape by means of a range of tools, programs, and seminars.

Tech Valley was established in 2015 with the goal of bridging the public and private sectors in Pakistan. It focusses on the nexus between government, business, and university by advancing innovation and technology.
