Pakistani students have achieved a major milestone in student rocketry with the successful launch of the BARQ rocket, developed locally by the Aitchison College Rocketry Team.
On August 11, 2026, the student-built rocket reached an impressive altitude of 3,740 metres (12,270 feet) and achieved a peak speed of Mach 0.86.
The achievement marks a significant step forward for Pakistan’s student-led aerospace and rocketry initiatives, showcasing the technical skills, creativity and engineering capabilities of young Pakistani innovators.

The BARQ project also reportedly set three national records, making the launch an especially notable achievement for the students and their institution.
From designing and developing the rocket to successfully launching it, the project demonstrates how hands-on STEM education can inspire students to take on ambitious challenges in aerospace engineering.
