Punjab School Education Department has introduced a new system of rewards and accountability linked to the performance of students in the 9th Class BISE examinations.
Under the new directive, schools, head teachers, teachers, and students achieving a 60% or higher pass rate will receive formal recognition for their performance. The department has also announced special recognition for stronger results.
Teachers whose students achieve an 80% or higher pass rate will receive special merit badges and appreciation letters. The move is aimed at recognizing teachers who are helping their students achieve better academic results and encouraging schools to focus more on classroom performance.
At the same time, the directive also includes accountability measures for institutions with very low results. Schools recording a pass rate below 20% could face disciplinary proceedings under the PEEDA Act 2006.

Individual subject teachers whose results fall below the 20% mark may also be investigated. This means the new policy is not only focused on rewarding good performance but also on identifying areas where students are struggling.
District authorities have been directed to monitor the implementation of the policy and submit progress reports every two weeks. This regular monitoring is intended to keep track of school performance and ensure that the instructions are being followed across the province.
The initiative creates a clear difference between high-performing and low-performing results, while giving teachers an incentive to work toward stronger academic outcomes.
