The Punjab government has announced free bus and rickshaw services in Lahore to facilitate citizens during Basant celebrations. The free transport will be available on February 6, 7, and 8, aiming to ensure public safety, convenience, and smooth traffic flow across the city.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said the decision was taken to reduce traffic congestion and discourage excessive use of motorcycles during the festivities. With large numbers of people expected to gather on rooftops for kite flying, minimizing pressure on roads has been identified as a key priority for the authorities.

She added that providing free public transport will help residents move easily while reducing the risk of accidents and traffic jams. “Our focus is on public safety and making Basant an organized and enjoyable event for everyone,” she said.

To maintain law and order, traffic police, district administration, and law enforcement agencies will remain fully active throughout the celebrations. Special monitoring teams will oversee traffic management, public safety, and compliance with safety regulations.

Officials emphasized that these measures are part of a broader plan to revive Basant in a safe, controlled, and family-friendly manner. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities, follow safety guidelines, and celebrate responsibly.

The Punjab government expressed confidence that with proper planning, free transport facilities, and strict enforcement, Basant 2025 will be a secure and memorable event for the people of Lahore.
