The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has approved a landmark financial initiative by introducing the country’s first-ever digital lending product exclusively designed for women-led Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
This new initiative is aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs by improving their access to formal financing and encouraging financial inclusion across Pakistan. It is seen as an important step toward empowering women in business and strengthening the MSME sector.
Under this digital financing product, eligible women-led businesses will be able to access asset financing ranging from PKR 100,000 to PKR 1.5 million. The financing amount will be determined based on a proper credit assessment of each borrower, ensuring responsible lending practices and financial transparency.
SECP to Remove Over 200 Companies From Official Records
According to SECP officials, the main objective of this product is to reduce financial barriers faced by women entrepreneurs, especially those who struggle to secure loans from traditional banking channels. By using a digital system, the process is expected to be faster, simpler, and more accessible.
The initiative will help women-owned businesses expand their operations, purchase new equipment, and improve productivity. It is also expected to create new job opportunities and contribute to economic growth at the grassroots level.
Experts believe that this move will play a key role in promoting gender equality in the financial sector and encouraging more women to start and grow their own businesses. It also aligns with Pakistan’s broader goal of digital transformation in financial services.
The SECP’s approval of this dedicated digital lending product marks a significant milestone in the country’s financial development. It reflects a strong commitment to inclusive growth and innovation in the banking and fintech ecosystem, especially for underserved segments of society.
This initiative is expected to open new doors for thousands of women entrepreneurs across Pakistan.
