Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais has urged worshippers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah to remain calm and complete their prayers before attempting to approach the Hajar al-Aswad (Black Stone).
Addressing pilgrims and visitors, Sheikh Al-Sudais emphasized that rushing toward the Black Stone before the prayer has fully concluded is not the correct practice. He reminded worshippers that Salah (prayer) should always be completed with peace, humility, and full concentration, as these are essential elements of sincere worship.
He explained that kissing or touching the Hajar al-Aswad is a recommended (Sunnah) act, but it should never take precedence over completing the obligatory prayer properly. Worshippers should avoid haste and ensure they observe the proper etiquette of worship before moving toward the Black Stone.
Sheikh Al-Sudais also stressed the importance of maintaining order, patience, and respect for fellow pilgrims inside the Grand Mosque. He noted that rushing through crowds or pushing others to reach the Hajar al-Aswad contradicts the Islamic values of compassion, discipline, and consideration for others.

He appealed to visitors to prioritize safety and good conduct during their acts of worship, especially during periods of heavy crowds when thousands of pilgrims gather in the Holy Mosque. The message serves as an important reminder that the true essence of worship lies in devotion, sincerity, and humility rather than haste. Pilgrims are encouraged to perform every act of worship with patience and mindfulness while observing Islamic etiquette.
Religious scholars continue to advise that while visiting the Hajar al-Aswad is a cherished Sunnah, preserving the sanctity of prayer and avoiding harm or inconvenience to fellow worshippers should always remain the highest priority.
