Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Langrial has revealed that nearly 95 percent of Pakistan’s population does not have access to AC, highlighting the limited availability of cooling facilities across the country despite rising temperatures and frequent heatwaves.
Speaking on issues related to energy consumption and taxation, Langrial noted that only a small segment of society benefits from air-conditioned living. According to the figures shared by the FBR chief, approximately 5 percent of Pakistanis have access to air conditioners, while the overwhelming majority continue to rely on alternative cooling methods.
The remarks come at a time when Pakistan is experiencing increasingly intense summer temperatures, raising concerns about energy demand, electricity consumption, and access to basic cooling facilities.
