Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni in Islamabad during the minister’s official visit to Pakistan, reaffirming the strong bilateral relationship between the two neighboring countries.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and other senior government officials.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the Iranian delegation and recalled his recent visit to Tehran to attend the funeral ceremony of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei. He conveyed his best wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the recent escalation in the Gulf region and urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further destabilize the region. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting regional peace and stability, emphasizing that the country would continue to play the role of an honest mediator and facilitator in resolving regional tensions.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni thanked the Pakistani leadership for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from Iran’s leadership. He also appreciated the mediation efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, acknowledging their role in facilitating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at regional peace.
